Chestnut Street Trail Park

Hatfield Township
Administration Building
1950 School Road

At the corner of School Road and Vine Street is the Chestnut Street Trail Park: an intimate passive park with trees, resting benches and a running water feature. The park serves patrons of Hatfield Township's municipal offices, police station, aquatic center, dog park and Hatfield Community Park. It is a rest point along the Chestnut Street Trail. By heading in either direction, bicyclists and pedestrians may reach a number of places. The adjacent municipal parking lot may be used to park and unload bicycles, children and leashed pets, and then to step out onto the Chestnut Street Trail together.

The park was developed with grant funds from the Pa. Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) and PECO's "Green Region" program. Praxair, Inc., an international manufacturer of industrial gases with a division in Hatfield Township, also donated funds toward the project, which were used to provide the trees and plants that landscape the site.

The park, built over the course of three years, incorporates a pondless water feature, a paved courtyard and a planting plan designed by Shade Tree Commission Chairman Frank Brouse. More than three dozen volunteers installed the park's landscape materials as Earth Day projects in the springs of both 2008 and 2010.
