Event Overview

Montco Youth Summit
  • Saturday, May 2
    9:30 AM—12:00 PM
  • On Saturday, May 2, 2026, the Montgomery County Commissioners will host its first-ever Montco Youth Summit, bringing together high school students from across the County for a focused, interactive conversation about the issues shaping their lives and communities. The event, held at Montgomery County Community College, is designed to engage up to 100 students in direct dialogue with county leadership.

“For far too long, decisions about the future have been made without the voices of those who will live it. This summit flips that script,” said Jamila Winder, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “Our young people understand the challenges facing their generation better than anyone. So, when we give them a seat at the table, we can learn better ideas and, in turn, create better policies for a stronger Montgomery County.”

The Montco Youth Summit will feature small-group breakout discussions on topics including mental health and social media, school safety, workforce pathways, substance use and vaping, civic engagement, and the future of work. Students will report back directly to the Commissioners with challenges, potential solutions, and specific asks of county government, followed by a live Q&A session with Commissioner Winder, Commissioner Neil Makhija, and Commissioner Tom DiBello.

Montgomery County Commissioners Jamila Winder, Neil Makhija, and Tom DiBello are excited to hold Montgomery County’s Youth Summit on Saturday, May 2, from 10 AM to 12 PM at Montgomery County Community College. This summit serves as a welcoming space for students from across the county to share their thoughts, connect with others, and talk openly about what’s happening in their community and the challenges their generation are facing.

Our commissioners want to hear directly from our students’ experiences, concerns, and ideas for the future. When world events feel overwhelming, this Summit offers a safe and respectful space to process what’s going on around us.
