L.O.C.A.T.E.® Law Officer Concerned About the Endangered
Assisting Individuals with Special Needs
The L.O.C.A.T.E.® program assists endangered or special needs individuals who may be lost or separated from their loved ones. Information gathered through L.O.C.A.T.E.® allows officers responding to a found or missing person call to more quickly reunite someone with family or caregivers.
L.O.C.A.T.E.® focuses on citizens with special needs, such as those with:
- Autism
- Down Syndrome
- Impaired hearing
- Language barriers
- Alzheimer’s and related dementia disorders
Register with L.O.C.A.T.E.®
To register with the LOCATE program, a parent, guardian, or caregiver should visit the police department with the special needs person. A photograph will be taken and a registration form filled out.
